Freunde der Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen

The Freunde der Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V. (Friends of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V.) have served the Kunstsammlung since 1969. The scope of the Friends’ activities are nowhere characterized with greater clarity than in its charter: their mission is to provide conceptual and material support to the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, and in particular to facilitate the expansion of the permanent collection. Over the years, the society has made it possible for the Kunstsammlung to acquire a number of otherwise unattainable works.

In order to rise even more to the demands posed by the three museums – K20 and K21 – which have increased appreciably over the years, the Friends of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen are of course keen to increase its number of “friends”. We welcome people and companies who wish to find mutual joy and satisfaction in showing their friendship and support, both material and non-material, to this internationally renowned museum of modern and contemporary art. In return, the Friends offer their members a host of interesting events, as well as trips and excursions to exciting “art locations”.

Understandably, people living outside of Düsseldorf tend to identify primarily with the museums located in their own towns. Residents of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, however, should be mindful of the fact that the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen is also “their” museum, which is to say: it is not a Düsseldorf museum per se, but instead a regional art institution – a “Staatsgalerie”. There are any number of good reasons to become a member of the Friends of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen. A detailed information brochure is available by request from our secretariat.
