The Rule of Three of Identity

This installation consists of two parts: the object Concrete Castle, created by Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani, and a joint film project by the same artistic duo with Bertold Stallmach. Through this object, they thematizes the contentious reconstruction of the Berlin Stadtschloss / City Palace, posing questions about
authenticity and the function of architecture.

With lighthearted but at the same time profound humor, the animated film Der Dreisatz der Identität / The Rule of Three of Identity deals with the self-perceptions of the individual, the artist, and society. The film’s narrative structure is continually interrupted by reflections on social theory. In the deserts of Africa, Iso und Jenga, a pair of bumbling dropouts, are confronted with the reality of refugees, whom they reencounter in the abandoned buildings of the Berlin metropolis…
