“Playground” is designed for children aged 3 to 10. Babies as well as older children and teenagers are also very welcome. Please note that adults may only visit “Playground” when accompanying a child.

Please bring socks, preferably non-slip socks. The play area cannot be entered without socks!

“Playground” can be accessed via the foyer of K20, Grabbeplatz 5, 40213 Düsseldorf.

If you are using a stroller, buggy, or wheelchair, you can access the main entrance of K20 via a ramp. The entrance has an automatic revolving door, which can be slowed down using a button on the right.

The installation is designed to support different forms of participation and accessibility, and is largely wheelchair accessible. You can find more information about accessibility in “Playground” under “Accessibility.”

“Playground” is free for children. Admission for an accompanying adult costs €5.

Yes, time-slot tickets are required for “Playground”. These can be presented either digitally or in printed form. Time-slot tickets are available in the webshop and become available for purchase 14 days before their validity date. A limited number of spots are also reserved for walk-in visitors; however, waiting times may occur and entry cannot be guaranteed. Admission is permitted until shortly before the end of the time slot.

You can visit “Playground” with your children daily (except Mondays) during the following time slots:
Tue–Fri: 12 pm – 2 pm / 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm 
Sat & Sun & public holidays: 11 am – 1 pm / 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm / 4 pm – 6 pm

Admission is possible within the booked time slot; the end time is fixed.

Tickets cannot be rebooked or canceled and will expire if not used.

Everyone visiting “Playground” – including babies – requires a time-slot ticket.

No, please remain with the child you are visiting with at all times. The Playworkers do not assume supervisory responsibility for your children. Use of “Playground” is at your own risk. As accompanying adults, you are responsible for supervising your child throughout the entire visit, in accordance with their age, stage of development, and individual abilities. This also applies to the entrance area and the sanitary facilities (see also Terms of Use). You are very welcome to visit the K20 collection and the temporary exhibition with your child after your time in “Playground,” using a valid exhibition ticket. A reduced combined ticket for visiting both “Playground” and the K20 collection is available for adults at €10. Admission for children is free.

Photography and filming are permitted exclusively for private purposes and only of one’s own children. Photographing or filming other children or third parties is prohibited for reasons of personal rights and data protection (see the Terms and Conditions).

We kindly ask that you do not visit “Playground”if a child is unwell or sick.

Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen adheres to strict safety standards. “Playground” is TÜV-certified.

Yes, all exhibition spaces and the K20 collection are air-conditioned.

Yes, there are child-friendly toilets on the women’s, men’s and accessible toilets on the ground floor of K20. They are clearly marked on the doors.

Yes, there is a baby changing facility on the ground floor of K20, behind the ticket desk.

There is a designated area in “Playground” where you can leave strollers and buggies. There is also space for coats and bags. Valuable belongings should be kept in the lockers behind the ticket desk.

We kindly ask you to remove your shoes before entering the play area and place them on the designated shoe racks. The play area may only be entered wearing socks, preferably non-slip socks (no bare feet). 

There is a snack area for food brought with you. Please clean up afterward. The museum café Lido also offers drinks and snacks. Please no eating or drinking in the play area.

Yes, “Playground” includes a lounge furnished with comfortable sofas. Feeding a baby in any form is encouraged.

Yes, you will find a mini library in the space with a selection of books for adults and children, including books in various languages: German, English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese, and Ukrainian.

Yes of course! “Playground” “is designed for various forms of play and engagement. We encourage kids to freely and safely roam and explore. At the same time, “Playground” is aimed at intergenerational exchange: it encourages play with children and also among adults.

There is a designated area for accompanying adults in “Playground” next to the play area. The space offers various seating options; you also have access to our mini library and free Wi-Fi. If you need to wait before your “Playground” visit, please do so in the K20 foyer or in front of the museum.

“Playground” was designed for children. We aim to respect children’s privacy and their play; therefore, adults cannot visit the space on their own. However, as part of the KPMG Open House evenings, held on the first Wednesday of each month from 6 pm, you can visit “Playground” without children during guided tours.

Our Lost and Found is located at the K20 ticket desk.

We kindly ask you not to bring your own toys or electronic devices, to ensure a consistent and safe play environment for all children. Please also do not bring any sharp objects. Other items, such as extra clothing, strollers, or similar, should also not be taken into the play area.

Please do not remove any items from the play area.

Please inform our Playworker if something breaks. We will take care of repair or replacement.

Birthdays and other celebrations can be held in “Playground” if you book a workshop programme offered by the Kunstsammlung. You can find the available programmes here.

K20 is step-free to access. A ramp leads to the main entrance, which has an automatic revolving door that can be slowed down using a button on the right-hand side. The route to “Playground” and large parts of the play area are step-free. The tables are wheelchair accessible. There is a swing designed for children with limited mobility. “Playground” does not have a tactile guidance system. If you require a low-stimulation environment, we recommend bringing noise-cancelling headphones. We also offer free disposable earplugs upon request.
