Focus "museum global"

Evolving in the framework of our research project within the holdings of the public Werner Schmalenbach Library of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen has been a focus around the motto "museum global." The selected publications mirror various regional research approaches, as well as the general literature on this broadly conceived topic. The categories are as follows:

  • Generalized material on the topics of globalization, migration, interculturality, sociology, cultural studies, cultural history, art history, museum studies, anthropology, cultural contact, history and politics, philosophy; cultural policy
  • Pedagogy, education, communication; museum education
  • The topic of globalization with reference to art, art history (also film and music) including the exhibition catalog

    • A focus on colonialism, decolonization, and post-colonialism

  • "Primitivism," "exoticism"
  • Surrealism
  • Africa in general, with a focus on Nigeria and Senegal
  • Latin America / South American in general, with a focus on Brazil and Mexico, anthropophagy theory
  • The Arab States, Islamic art, with a focus on Turkey
  • Asia in general, with a focus on Japan, China and India, the tropics
  • Magazines and journals
