International Symposium

Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen
K20 Grabbeplatz
February 12 and 13, 2016

The focus of this international symposium – of it's lectures, talks and discussions – was formemost the work and the artist Agnes Martin herself, but also her relationships with artists and artistic debates of her time, her texts inspired among other things by Asian philosophies, transcultural networks and finally the central question of the viewer's reaction to the work at the time of the first exhibitions and today.

The conference included not only scholary and curatorial, but also artistic aproaches, it was organized discursively, with a wide range of formats.

With lectures and talks by: Marion Ackermann, Stephan Baumkötter, Tiffany Bell, Eva Ehninger, Bracha L. Ettinger, Erich Franz, Lena Fritsch, Suzanne Hudson, Jonathan D. Katz, Heinz Liesbrock, Frances Morris, Maria Müller-Schareck, Matthias Ruthenberg, Mona Schieren, Annette Schryen, Peter Schüller, Dieter Schwarz, Richard Tuttle, Gianfranco Verna, Anne Vieth, Anna Vogel, Angela Wenzel.
