In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Hito Steyerl has also been active for many years as an author. Her essays, published in various places, are summarized in four books: “Die Farbe der Wahrheit. Dokumentarismen im Kunstfeld” (Vienna and Berlin: Turia + Kant, 2008), “The Wretched of the Screen” (Berlin: Sternberg Press, 2012), “Jenseits der Repräsentation” (Berlin: Walther König, 2016), and “Duty Free Art – Art in the Age of Global Civil War” (Zurich: Diaphanes, 2018). Steyerl also gives numerous talks and lectures in various contexts.
