Anys Reimann’s collaged portraits are made of images from magazines, newspapers, or the Internet. She combines Black and white body parts and connects, expands, and changes them through painterly interventions. Thus, the individual parts form a new identity that goes beyond the sum of their parts. Reimann often retains the different sizes of the source material, creating unnatural and exaggerated proportions. Her figures, read as female, are strong and confident characters who fight back against any attributions from the outside. The eyes often play a special role, looking at the viewer with a sharp gaze.
